 FAQs

  • The Tesla Wall Connector has evolved significantly from Gen 2 to Gen 3. The most noticeable changes include a sleek, modern design with a glass front and a white colour scheme for Gen 3, compared to the more traditional black or silver plastic of Gen 2. Technologically, Gen 3 supports up to 16 wireless connections and introduces Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing for remote monitoring and firmware updates. Although Gen 2 offers higher power capacity (80 amps vs. 48 amps for Gen 3), the current electric vehicles do not require more than 48 amps, making Gen 3 adequately powerful while reducing heat generation and potential overheating issues seen in Gen 2. Additionally, Gen 3 features a thinner, more manageable 18-foot cable compared to the 24-foot cable of Gen 2. Despite these enhancements, both generations are similarly priced, making Gen 3 a more feature-rich and efficient option at no additional cost.

  • Gen 3 Wall Connector is compatible with both Single and Three Phase power.

  • In a single phase home, the Wall Connector will use the highest capacity charging speed of 7.2kW, which can provide your EV with up to 40km of range per hour. Three-phase homes have three connections to the grid, meaning a charging speed of 22kW can be reached (depends on your car).

  • Wall Connector is compatible with most electric vehicles including Tesla vehicles and other electric vehicles. Make sure the Wall Connector you are purchasing has a plug that matches the charging inlet on your electric vehicle.
